Grease Traps and Pre-Treatment Devices
Pre-treatment devices and grease traps are a requirement of the Western Australian Water Corporation to ensure the safe discharge of wastewater. Trade waste contains oil, grease, chemicals and solids. If a business discharges trade waste water directly to the sewerage network it can cause blockages and overflows, overload treatment plants and pollute our rivers and beaches.
Most businesses require some form of pre-treatment, such as a grease arrestor or pre-treatment device, which removes most of the grease and solids, before the liquid waste is allowed to enter our sewerage infrastructure. This includes:
• Commercial food outlets,
• Education facilities including canteens, science labs and arts departments,
• Mechanical workshops,
• Hospital and medical centres, and
• Laundromats.
