Effluent Disposal Systems
Wastewater treatment is normally designed to remove gross solids, stabilise degradable organic material and settle out other solids as sludge. All wastewater systems must be approved by the Department of Health (WA). An on-site system is one which treats the sewage in a septic tank so that most of the sewage becomes effluent and is disposed of through nearby leach drains.
Septic tanks are always divided into two sections, the first being twice the size of the second.
